From expired milk to biochar under study

The idea

Why an expired material?

The project starts from the question of whether expired milk can be reused by converting it into a carbon-rich material. Three companion materials were tested to study how formulation properties and plant response differ within one experimental setting.

The experiment

How was the idea tested?

A pot experiment was run on cowpea (Vigna unguiculata), with material treatments and a no-amendment group. Measurements covered leaf area, biomass, the SPAD chlorophyll index, leaf count, stem length and thickness, and branch count.
